Still sluggish

9.02 still extremely sluggish when typing on iPad, a pity for this is a great app; please fix it.

Fantastic app

One of my most frequently used apps.

Deleted

Renaming the app and charging again without any noticeable enhancement = DELETED.

Why change the name?

I just bought Nebulous Notes. I like it, but Im not going to buy it again under a different app name!

Best by far

Update 2016: well it was the best now it is the worst. Wants you to pay for a new app. What is different in the new app? Nothing. Was five stars, now one. Update: still the best! This is the best editor you can get. Way more features than the others. The customizable macro bar is the icing on the cake. Theres a full-featured ad-supported free version too.

Ransomware - great app made useless.

Developer app took a great app, decided to drop support for everything except for critical bugs and plopped out the exact same app I bought a year ago, slapped the name Permanote on it and essentially demanded 6$ out of my wallet to keep the same functions I already paid for. For those of you who think TouchID compatibility is worth 6$, more power to you. Folks, please vote with your wallets when it comes to developers like this. This developer will never get another dime from me, and I hope this review saves you from my mistake. Take your 6$ and give it to a dev who stands by their product without milking your wallet.

No compelling reason to upgrade

Nebulous Notes is being discontinued. The author has come out with a new app to replace it, and is asking $6 for this new app. As far as I can tell, there is absolutely NO compelling reason to upgrade. Unless you are the developer, that is. He has a really good reason for you to upgrade: $6 more in his pocket. And all this for simply changing the name of the app, dropping support on the old one and selling the old app as a new one. The developer should be able to continue making money on his efforts. No doubt. Especially for an app this good. This is the best note taking app Ive used on the iPad. If he were to come out with some compelling new features making the new app a true upgrade, then Id seriously consider upgrading. Until then, however, Ill stick to the old one.

Still a bargain

I decided to review because of all the one-stars who expect a $.99 app to be updated indefinitely. Im sticking with Nebulous right now, as it does everything I need and seems to be bug-free, but if I need to buy Pemanote eventually, Ill do so happily. This is a beautiful full-featured app with strong text handling and dropbox integration. It pairs nicely with NVAlt on the Mac.

Wish I could give 1/4 star.

This app is sucky and has always been sucky. It was just I my iPad not being used and now this joker wants to charge 5.99. To be honest I would buy a notebook first and put my notes in it. My 5.99 can be put to much better use thank you.

New Name????

Pay again!!!! If you already own the App they should not charge you $6 , I know some Apps that the same have been done and if you owned the App you got the new one for free, but not here. What a great idea everyone should do it, change the name and charge again!

Fantastic app!

10-26-16 update: This update breaks Dropbox sync. It was disconnected upon update, but after reconnecting I cant upload or rename files. Original review: First... why in the world would someone give this app 3 stars because it doesnt edit spreadsheets?!?! Oh wait, I know why!

Sad to see it go

I have enjoyed this app as a quick way to browse and edit text and code on the road. Its a bummer than the author couldnt make enough to make it worthwhile which points to a general problem with the app concept. While not perfect it had a lot of customization option (custom fonts was my favorite) and the built-in Markdown editor was awesome and just a tweak from perfect (GFM support needed). On mere principle Ill upgrade to Permanote despite it also turning into a pumpkin soon. I can only hope something will change.

long time user

Nebulous Notes is something Ive used on a nearly daily basis for many years. I dont expect that to cease any time soon.

PERMANOTE & NEBULOUS NOTES

The developer of Nebulous Notes hopes to transition users to his new Permanote product, which sells for $5.99 as of May 2, 2016. Often, a developer offers a limited discount for loyal users of the old product to transition to the new one, at a reduced price for the debut period, as an inducement. Im not aware of any inducement being the case here. Neither am I aware of any new features in Permanote, which would justify the change. What am I missing? If Permanote added a Dropbox history viewer and restore function internal to the app, like is available in the inimitable Editorial app and the sadly "suspended in animation" WriteUp app, then that would be a clear improvement for Permanote over the older Nebulous Notes. Editorial goes an extra step and offers a "diff" function, which is mind-blowingly useful for detecting issues between versions of documents. Im not aware of anyone else offering that in an iOS app. Of course, one nice thing about Nebulous Notes, and which is continued into Permanotes, is the ability to edit any plain text file in any folder in Dropbox. This makes it a good "back up emergency" tool, for those cases when other apps "bite the dust" and become a "data silo". Anyway, I wish success to the developer, but at the moment cash is short and I wont be paying $5.99 for what only looks like "window dressing" — from seemingly merely changing the name of the app — when I cant see any incentive to pay what isnt exactly a cheap price these days in iOS app terms. If the developer reads this and thinks I missed something, I welcome him to update his descriptions of the apps to reflect clearly what the differences are between apps … and why it is worth the investment to get the new one.

I regret purchasing it.

New Review: I get it. You need to make money. However, paid upgrades penalize existing users while rewarding new users. I, for one, will not be buying any more of your apps and I regret recommending it to other people. Old Review: Awesome notes/Markdown tool. The cloud integration is flawless. I couldnt recommend it more. I have purchased most of the Markdown capable notes programs in the App Store and this one is the best.

Fabulous - used ea. day w/ Dropbox

Ive used this as my go-to notes and lists app every day for over a year. GR8! The Dropbox cloud support has not given me a dot of trouble - super for access with my Mac or at my PC at work. #RECOMMENDED! ...running w/ iOS 9.3 on my iPhone & iPad mini ...switched to Permanote by this same Dev. and it seems identical

No Touch ID.

5 years and no Touch ID. Great app but I cant for the life of me figure out why there is no Touch ID.

Too slow

The app has been great. But the latest update has problems for me. Most notably the delay in typing. It takes about 15 seconds for each character. Its basically unusable that way. Also it freezes 50% of the time. And it now begs me to upgrade to an app called "permanote" which costs money. Im suspicious the developer may have purposefully crippled this app to force users to buy the new app. Very disappointing. Have to search for new FAST simple note again with Dropbox sync.

So the developer wants us to buy the app again?

I paid for Nebulous Notes. It has been a useful text editing app, although thats a pretty narrow use case. But Im not going to repurchase it (renamed as "Permanotes" so the developer can attempt to get people to pay again - oh, and this latest "update" was done just to announce the rebranding and sales pitch). Ill find a different app from a more ethical developer.

Outstanding

Key if you want plaintext and Dropbox compatibility.
